Getting physical folder content to VMDK

Hello! I have recently recovered my data after what I'd call a disaster clusterfu and now sit with the entire contents from a old dead VMDK file in a folder.

Basicly I got an entire C drive with Windows SBS 2003 in a single folder on a (Non vmware related, physical) drive. What I need is to know how to get theese files back into a VMDK so I can hook it up to a new virtual machine on my ESXi server and boot back up. Now I realize just copying the files to a new vmdk underlying partition, might not make it bootable. But with some fixboot/fixmbr and a realignment and/or OS repair disk it should do the trick. Well it has to, or i won't get paid

Right now I am just thinking hooking the folder up to shared folders in a vmware workstation installation just to get a virtual machine accessing it. I don't know tho, seems like a hard way to do it and I am sure there's a few experts here with some advice
