I think this is a good technical knowledge (only if there is an useful purpose) to share.
Several things to consider ....
#1. Transferring data via CAT UTP cable ... (please refer type of UTP CAT cable, contributing data transfer rate)
#2. Transferring data via data transferring applications, such as FTP, copy/paste, etc (communication between two different OS as well, or via ESX cli)
#3. Storage type SAS, IDE, SATA, SCSI, etc (rpm, throughput)
#4. Capacity transferring data over than 10GB may consider data lost (Time To Live - TTL)
#5. Folder structure + total files will contribute time elapse during transfer
#6. .... bla ... bla ....
